Thank you for your interest in Seguin Christian Academy. Working at SCA is as much a mission as it is a job. It is a desire to make a difference in the lives of the children in our community that motivates the teachers - not the pay. Although one of our goals is to increase teachers' pay over the next couple of years to show our appreciation for the sacrifices they are making, we are not there yet.
In addition to the opportunity to teach small classes in a Christian environment with freedom from STAAR, TAKS, and/or the test of the week, we also offer some more tangible benefits for both our regular part time and full time employees. The first benefit is tuition discounts for the employee's immediate family. Tuition discounts are offered in accordance with the number of hours worked per week. The discounts range from 25% off all children to 100% off the first child and 50% off each additional child. Additional information is available in the Employee Handbook.
Another benefit that may be of particular interest to retired teachers is the fact that SCA participates in Social Security. Those who have taught in the public schools have the potential to receive both teacher retirement and social security.
However the greatest benefit of teaching at Seguin Christian Academy has no monetary value. Teachers and staff at SCA have the opportunity to be the hands of feet of Christ in a world that desperately needs His touch! SCA welcomes students, whether they come from Christian backgrounds or not. Therefore the opportunity exists, on a daily basis, to be His witness and share His love with people who desperately need Him, in an environment where Christianity is encouraged and celebrated!
